Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) has just announced an exciting opportunity which has arisen to become a member of the QAA Advisory Committee on Degree Awarding Powers (ACDAP). This Committee has responsibility for overseeing QAA’s work in scrutinising applications for degree awarding powers or university title, and is involved in the development of private higher education as well as public. ACDAP considers the nature of the recommendations to be made to the QAA Board, which in turn provides confidential advice to Government Ministers.
To be considered for this position you must be either a current undergraduate or postgraduate higher education student, or an elected student officer in a students' union or other student representative organisation, and have experience of student engagement in quality assurance within a higher education institution, as well as an understanding of the challenges and changes facing the higher education sector.
A full description of ACDAP members’ roles and responsibilities is set out in Annex 8 of the Code of Best Practice for Members of the QAA Board, and further details about the position and the qualities the QAA are looking for can be found in the person specification. The application form is also available on the QAA site. (Further information is available using the included links). However, please note that if you are currently a QAA student reviewer, you will be required to withdraw from undertaking review activity should you be appointed to ACDAP.
Applicants are asked to indicate:
· why they are interested in the position
· how their experience and expertise relate to the requirements of an ACDAP member
· how they meet the person specification
· the contribution they would hope to make.
You should also be available to attend meetings, including an induction, on the following dates:
