Skills Development Initiative 

Teesside University Students’ Union offers a range of sports clubs, from Football, Rugby and Netball through to Cheerleading, Kung Fu and Snowsports. All these clubs are run by students, for students, through a committee of 3 students. Giving you the opportunity to shape how the club is run, you can stand to be elected to one of the 3 committee positions of Chair, Vice-Chair Communications and Vice-Chair Finance. If the club you are interested in does not exist visit the SU Activities in the Students' Union and we'll help you set it up.

The Students’ Union employs up to 250 students each year in a variety of fulfilling roles in its commercial and membership services. These are paid fortnightly and include training, with the opportunity to progress into supervisory and leadership roles.

All these societies are run by students, for students, through a committee of 3 students. Giving you the opportunity to shape how the society is run, you can stand to be elected to one of the 3 committee positions of Chair, Vice-Chair Communications, Vice-Chair Finance. If the society you are interested in does not exist visit the SU Activities in the Students' Union and we’ll help you set it up.

The Teesside University Students' Union Job Service is within the Students' Union and advertises hundreds of part time jobs every month for students studying at Teesside University and its partnership colleges. We try, where ever possible, to find you a vacancy that fits around your timetable and over 10,000 students have found work through the service since its launch Towards the end of term, graduate jobs are advertised with the Job Service which can help third year students when looking for a career related to their course.

The Students’ Union is led by 4 full-time officers (President, Education Officer, Student Activities Officer, Welfare Officer) who represent students’ views to the University and make a significant contribution to students’ lives. These are one year appointments paid monthly and include extensive development, with the opportunity to be re-elected for a second year.

Five School Representatives are recruited by the Students’ Union for each of the 5 Schools within the University. They are students who work to represent students from their school on both academic and welfare related issues, sitting on University meetings and regularly meeting with senior staff to give feedback and bring about positive change. The 25 School Representatives are supported by a network of Course Representatives who feedback to them. The Student' Union recruits School Reps towards the end of the academic year for the following year. Occasionally positions come up sooner and these will be advertised through the Students’ Union Job Service.
